eziPay: an e-wallet for the laundromat
eziPay lets you pay for a washer or a dryer at the laundromat from your phone instead of with tokens, and it was one of Nerd Attack's last jobs before it became my first at Hermiso.
Laundromats here run on tokens. You put a note into the change machine, get tokens back, and feed those into the washer. eziPay gets rid of that… a small device on each machine, Eziwash, talks to the washer, and a wallet app on your phone pays for it. You scan the code on the machine and the money comes off your balance.
Hermiso engaged us for it back in April, when I was still at Nerd Attack, and it turned out to be one of Nerd Attack’s last jobs. When we closed in June I joined Hermiso and carried on with it.
You sign up with your phone number and an SMS code, and the balance is tied to that number. At the machine you tap start, scan the QR code on the washer, pick cold, warm or hot, confirm, then press start on the machine itself. Dryers go by the minute. You top up by online banking or card, or with cash at 7-Eleven and Petronas, and if the machine doesn’t start there’s a button to call us and we credit it back.
The first logo in April was the name with a QR code in square brackets, yellow on blue. By July it had turned into the ezi speech bubble, the same bubble in blue for eziPay and in yellow for eziPOD, the laundry lockers we’re putting in next.

My part is the UI/UX of the app, the website with a map of the outlets, and the admin web where each outlet’s washers and dryers are set up and the QR code for each machine comes from, in React and Material UI.
The first machines with eziPay on them are at Cleanpro Express outlets around KL, like the one in Pandan Indah.
